Tesla Roadster price, deposit and reservation checks

By · Published

Scope: October 15, 2026 reveal · Source review: October 16, 2026 · Independent reference

The final retail price of the October 2026 Tesla Roadster was not confirmed by the reviewed reveal coverage. InsideEVs reports a $50,000 reservation deposit, with $5,000 due immediately and $45,000 within ten days. Those are reported reservation terms, not a vehicle price or a promise of delivery. Verify the live agreement for your market before paying.

The $200,000 base price and $250,000 Founders Series figure commonly found in older articles belong to the 2017 concept’s announcement. They should not be treated as a current quote for the redesigned Performance, Thrust or Rocket configurations. Likewise, “from $50,000” would misrepresent a reported deposit as the purchase price.

InsideEVs describes the new deposit as refundable in its reveal report and gives the payment split in its configuration article. This site has not independently reviewed a completed regional reservation agreement, so it does not guarantee refundability, processing times, transfer rights or how an older reservation is treated. The wording of the applicable agreement is the relevant evidence.

  1. Confirm the official destination. Start at Tesla’s Roadster page or a link supplied through a verified Tesla channel. This wiki does not take deposits or act as a reservation agent.
  2. Confirm the market and currency. Regional rules, taxes, fees and payment arrangements may differ. Do not assume a US-dollar article describes your country’s contract.
  3. Save the configuration and availability language. Performance, limited Thrust and invite-only Rocket are different offerings. A deposit does not by itself prove eligibility for an invitation-only version.
  4. Read the payment schedule. Confirm the initial payment, later balance, deadline and the consequence of missing it. Check what happens to the first payment if the remaining deposit is not sent.
  5. Read the refund and cancellation clauses. Identify who can cancel, how a refund is requested, any deductions and the stated processing period. Save a copy of the terms and your receipt.
  6. Separate a production target from a contractual delivery commitment. Musk’s 2028 target is not an individualized delivery date or a verified build slot.
  7. Clarify old reservations. If you already reserved a 2017-concept Roadster, ask Tesla in writing how your agreement maps to the redesigned car, configuration selection and existing payments. This review found no basis to promise automatic priority or conversion.
Question Why it changes the decision
What is the final price, and what can change it? A deposit does not cap the purchase price
Which configuration is my reservation actually for? Hardware, seats, eligibility and use restrictions differ
What is refundable under this agreement? A news summary is not the contract
What happens if production or approval is delayed? A target year is not guaranteed availability
Is my intended configuration eligible for registration here? Road-use status remains a separate issue
Can I cancel or transfer an existing reservation? Earlier and current agreements may not match

We could access Tesla’s official X announcement through its public syndication response, but direct retrieval of Tesla’s Roadster and reservation pages was restricted. The deposit details above are therefore clearly attributed to InsideEVs. We did not place an order, review an account-specific agreement or test a refund.

The site does not recommend paying a deposit and does not provide affiliate reservation links. Use the release timeline to understand the history of targets, and the legality guide to distinguish intended use from confirmed permission.

Reviewed October 16, 2026. This page is a source-based synthesis, not a first-hand vehicle test. Tesla’s X post was checked through X’s public syndication response; the direct Tesla product page returned an access restriction. Product-page details below are attributed to the named reporting rather than presented as a fresh direct verification.
